Hornworms

Some feeders are not staples — they are tools.

Hornworms are soft-bodied, moisture-rich feeders known for rapid growth and easy feeding. Almost free of chitin, high in calcium and low in fat, they are the first thing many experienced keepers reach for when an animal is dehydrated, recovering from illness, or refusing food.

Use them once or twice a week rather than daily. The moisture content that makes them useful for a struggling animal makes them a poor everyday diet.
