Every feeder on this page is legal to keep and receive anywhere in Florida, and all of them are raised or held here in Marion County.

Discoid roaches (Blaberus discoidalis) are the staple. Soft-bodied, high in usable protein, low in shell, and easy for an animal to catch and digest. Crickets bring movement and moisture. Mealworms are the convenient option to keep on hand. Superworms (Zophobas morio) are the high-energy option, larger and higher in fat than a mealworm, which is what makes them useful for an animal that needs to put weight on. Hornworms are mostly water and almost free of chitin, which is what makes them the feeder keepers reach for when an animal is dehydrated or off its food.

Why in-state matters

Live insects are perishable in transit. Heat, cold and time in a depot are what kill them, and every extra day on the road is another chance for a box to arrive quiet. Orders inside Florida travel one short lane from Ocala.
